"Through Relief Society [and Visiting Teaching], we practice being disciples of Christ. We learn what He would have us learn, we do what He would have us do, and we become what He would have us become."

The Purposes of Relief Society
FAITH * FAMILY * RELIEF
“This is a season to be strong. It is a time to move forward
without hesitation, knowing well the meaning, the breadth,
and the importance of our mission. It is a time to do what
is right regardless of the consequences that might follow.
without hesitation, knowing well the meaning, the breadth,
and the importance of our mission. It is a time to do what
is right regardless of the consequences that might follow.
It is a time to be found keeping the commandments.
It is a season to reach out with kindness and love
to those in distress and to those who are wandering
in darkness and pain. It is a time to be considerate and good,
to those in distress and to those who are wandering
in darkness and pain. It is a time to be considerate and good,
decent and courteous toward one another in all of our relationships,
in other words, to become more Christlike.”
President Gordon B. Hinckley

To increase our faith & personal righteousness,
Strengthen our families and homes, and
Provide relief by seeking out and helping those in need.
Women fulfill these purposes as they seek, recieve,
and act on personal revelation in their
callings and in their personal lives.

Christmas gifts as Simple Reminders…
“The best gift I have ever received came from my grandmother and consists of two items: a pillowcase and a necklace with a locket. Although they are simple items, they mean a lot to me. My name is written on the pillowcase with glow-in-the-dark letters, and below my name it reads, “Did you think to pray?” Whenever I have jumped into bed without praying, the glow-in-the-dark words remind me to kneel and pray.
The locket holds two pictures: one of me and one of the Savior. While the pillowcase reminds me to pray at home, the locket reminds me to be like the Savior at school and other places I go.”

Strengthening Families...
“As Relief Society sisters we can help one another to strengthen families. We are given opportunities to serve in many capacities. We constantly come in contact with children and youth who may need just what we can offer. You older sisters have much good advice and experience to share with younger mothers. Sometimes a Young Women leader or a Primary teacher says or does just the thing that is needed to reinforce what a parent is trying to teach. And obviously we don’t need any particular calling to reach out to a friend or neighbor.” - Barbara Thompson

Increasing our Faith and Personal Righteousness...
“Considering all that the Savior has done – and still does – for us,
What can we do for Him?
The greatest gift we could give to the Lord at Christmas, or at any other time,
is to keep ourselves unspotted from the world, worthy to attend His holy temple.
And His gift to us will be the peace of knowing that we are prepared to meet Him,
whenever that time comes…”
By Elder Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
December 2011 Ensign, “The Peace and Joy of Knowing the Savior Lives.”
