March Presidency Message
Well, here it is March…I love March because it is always fun to see the daffodils and tulips coming up…we all know that they are a promise of Spring! A few days ago, I went out to my mailbox and there was my Ensign…I love it when the Church magazines come, they are like getting a present in the mail! I especially enjoyed the article in the Ensign entitled, “Charity Never Faileth:” A Discussion on Relief Society. Elder Jeffrey R. Holland and his wife Patricia T. Holland share their thoughts on the role of Relief Society. I thought I would share a few quotes from their article.
(Relief Society) “It’s not a program per se. It is the gospel –
the gospel in action in the lives of our remarkable women. In difficult times we realize it offers its members, and by extension the whole Church, just what we need to help us right now.”
“Relief Society is needed now more than ever before because of the challenges we face in the world today. The women of the Church have a greater need to be righteous, to live close to the Spirit, and to be faithful. And women need each other too, in order to keep and sustain their faith.”
“Each one of us who makes the journey down the gospel path is an individual – a daughter or a son of God. As individual members, we must be absolutely rock solid. No organization is going to be any stronger than its people, no home any stronger than its foundation.”
“When I think of all the blessings we as Latter-day Saints share in our temples, our wards and branches, our marriages, and our families, I realize it all comes back to how the Priesthood and Relief Society – men and women – work together in a home as well as in the Church.”
What a wonderful article, well worth reading! I am so grateful for Relief Society and how I learn so much about the gospel, and not only that…I know Relief Society helps to strengthen my family as they see me participating in this great work. I agree with Elder Holland when he says, “Even when our children were very young, they could recognize their mother’s devotion to the gospel and the role that a woman plays in it…It is clear from their mother’s example that our children know the crucial, exalted place of women in their lives and in the kingdom of God.”
What a blessing Relief Society is to all of us. We thank each of you dear sisters for the wonderful examples you are, for your great faith, love, and devotion to Relief Society. We love you and pray for you always.
Love,
Jocelyn Walker

A message from Sister Hunt
Dear Sisters,
During the past few days, many of us have been confronted with an experience or two that have made us stop and think about how prepared we are to take care of our families in times of earthly challenges.
Many families in the Lehi area felt the tremors of 3 seperate small earthquakes within days of each other. A few nights ago a fierce winter storm hit our area with high winds, white out driving conditions and the loss of power to hundreds of homes. Did you feel safe in the knowledge that you were prepared to have warmth, light and food without electricity? Are you and your family prepared with knowledge and supplies in case of a larger earthquake?
I believe that being prepared is a work in progress, something we must continue to review and apply in our daily lives. I know that I have many, many more things I need to do to feel that calm, peaceful feeling of being prepared.
We hope that the ward representatives that attended our Stake emergency /disaster prepardness training session in January are working closely with their individual Relief Societies and Bishops in getting their own wards better prepared in the areas taught - Shelter, Water, Sanitation and Alternative Cooking.
I am reminded of and love the following quote by Elder Dallin H. Oaks (May 2004 Liahona address)
"We need to make both temporal and spiritual preparation for the events prophesied at the time of the Second Coming. And the preparation most likely to be neglected is the one less visible and more difficult - the spiritual. A 72-hour kit of temporal supplies may prove valuable for the earthly challenges, but, as the foolish virgins learned to their sorrow, a 72-hour kit of spiritual preparations is of greater and more enduring value."
How blessed we are to be able to attend our Stake Conference this Saturday and Sunday. May we prepare our hearts and our minds to listen, hear and then act upon the great council we will receive there from our Stake Presidency and our visiting authority. May our lives continue to be blessed with faith, obedience and the determination to prepare ourselves in all things.
Love,
Sister Hunt

Mormon Channel
We wanted to make you sisters aware of a wonderful resource. The church sponsors an internet radio station. It's called The Mormon Channel. Every month The Mormon Channel broadcasts a Relief Society program that works with the visiting teaching message for that month -- using quotes from the Relief Society General Presidency and General Authorities.
Listen by going to: http://radio.lds.org/eng/programs and then scroll down and click on the Relief Society Seal.

A Preview from our Emergency/ Disaster Prepardeness workshop
Watch the slide show below to see pictures from our recent Emergency/ Disaster Preparedness Workshop. Put your mouse over an image to read the caption. All of these images are of things you should learn about when you attend the classes taught in your wards. Make sure you go when they are offered so you can feel prepared in case of a disaster or emergency!
